A blocked nose is particularly unpleasant for our little ones. As a parent, you suffer with your little ones and want to give them relief as quickly as possible. But what can you do to clear a blocked nose as quickly as possible?
Nasal aspirators are well known everywhere for removing mucus from the nose. However, babies often find these uncomfortable. There should be a gentler way to do this.
The right herbal mixture for your baby with a stuffy nose
A special herbal mixture of chamomile, primrose and mullein flowers as well as rose petals is recommended. It has an antibacterial, antiviral and expectorant effect. The scent of this herbal mixture allows the thick secretion to drain more easily and thus promotes a shorter duration of the cold.
In particular, the primrose and the mullein, both traditionally recognized medicinal plants, have an expectorant effect and can be very helpful for a blocked nose. This is due to the triterpene saponins, which are contained in both the primrose and the mullein flowers. The triterpene saponins have an effect
- secretolytic, ie they promote the dilution of the viscous mucus
- expectorant , ie they promote expectoration and are thus a good mucolytic agent, and
- antiphlogistic, i.e. they are anti-inflammatory.
The right combination of these medicinal herbs gives the potentiated synergy effect and is therefore an effective support for a blocked nose.
